- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) survey forecasts merchandise imports to grow by 2.5 percent in 2025-26.
- Merchandise exports are projected to grow by 1.2 percent in 2025-26.
- Import’s growth is more than double the exports growth in the current financial year.
- In 2026-27, exports are expected to grow by 4.9 percent and imports by 6.0 percent in US dollar terms.
- The trade imbalance is expected to cause a current account deficit (CAD) of 0.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025-26.
- The CAD is projected to rise slightly to 0.9 percent of GDP in 2026-27.
- India's real GDP growth is forecast at 6.4 percent in 2025-26 and 6.7 percent in 2026-27.
- Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation forecast at 3.1 percent in 2025-26.
- CPI inflation expected to rise to 4.4 percent in 2026-27.
- CPI inflation excluding food, beverages, tobacco, intoxicants, fuel and light expected at 4.4 percent in Q2 of 2025-26.
