- Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi is India’s first water-positive airport, handling over 40 million passengers.
- A water-positive place recharges more freshwater than it uses.
- The airport has 625 rainwater harvesting structures and two reservoirs storing 9 million litres of water.
- A 16.6 million-litres-per-day (MLD) zero-liquid-discharge sewage plant recycles all wastewater.
- Recycled water is used for air-conditioning, gardening and toilets through automated systems.
- The certification was given under the NITI Aayog – Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) water neutrality framework.
