- It is close to major energy pipelines of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and eastern Saudi Arabia.
- The port has received over $30 billion in investments and handles 72 million tonnes of cargo annually.
- Oman is promoting Sohar Port and its Free zone to increase Indian investment, trade and exports.
- Earlier, Oman had offered Duqm and Salalah ports to India.
- The upcoming Oman-UAE rail link is expected to connect Sohar with the UAE railway network.
