- The Central Electricity Authority released the 20th Electric Power Survey midterm review.
- India’s total installed power capacity is projected to increase to 1,121 gigawatts (GW) by 2035–36 from around 520 GW in 2026.
- Solar energy is expected to become the largest source with about 509 GW, leading the clean energy transition.
- Coal will remain a major source with around 315 GW, providing a stable baseload power supply.
- The share of non-fossil fuel energy is expected to reach nearly 70 % of total capacity by 2035–36.
