India’s Coffee Exports

  • India's coffee exports have surged by 125% over the past 11 years.
  • Now it reaching $1.8 billion in 2023–24.
  • This is a rise from $800 million in 2014–15.
  • It elevated India to the 5th largest coffee exporter globally.
  • India is currently the 7th largest producer of coffee.
  • India exports over two-thirds of its annual production of more than 3.5 lakh tonnes.
  • Around 75% of India’s coffee is made up of Arabica and Robusta beans, primarily grown in the Western and Eastern Ghats.
  • Karnataka leads national production with 248,020 metric tonnes in 2022–23, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
  • Europe remains the top export destination, with key markets including Italy, Germany, Belgium, along with Russia, UAE, US, South Korea, and Japan.
  • Brazil continues to be the world’s largest coffee producer, maintaining global dominance.
