India’s Data Centre Capacity

India’s installed data-centre capacity has increased to 1.57 GW as of August 2026 and is projected to reach nearly 8 GW by 2030.
India’s data-centre capacity increased from around 375 MW in 2020 to 1.57 GW in 2026, driven by cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital services.
Nearly USD 70 billion is already under investment in the sector, with another USD 90 billion in announced projects.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) operates National Data Centres in Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar, along with 37 smaller centres.
Data-centre electricity demand could reach 17 GW by 2031–32, increasing the focus on renewable energy, efficient cooling and resource conservation.
