India’s Data Centre Capacity

  • India’s installed data-centre capacity has increased to 1.57 GW as of August 2026 and is projected to reach nearly 8 GW by 2030.
  • India’s data-centre capacity increased from around 375 MW in 2020 to 1.57 GW in 2026, driven by cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital services.
  • Nearly USD 70 billion is already under investment in the sector, with another USD 90 billion in announced projects.
  • The National Informatics Centre (NIC) operates National Data Centres in Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar, along with 37 smaller centres.
  • Data-centre electricity demand could reach 17 GW by 2031–32, increasing the focus on renewable energy, efficient cooling and resource conservation.
