- India’s data centre addition capacity more than doubled in 2025, reaching 387 megawatts (MW) of information technology (IT) capacity, compared to 191 MW of IT in 2024.
- MW IT capacity refers to the electrical power available to support information technology infrastructure in data centres.
- Data centre absorption (demand) also grew to 427 MW IT in 2025 from 407 MW IT, marking a 5 % year-on-year increase.
- Mumbai and Chennai accounted for approximately 70 % of total absorption in 2025.
- By the end of 2025, India’s operational data centre stock reached around 1,520 MW IT.
- The report projects that India’s data centre capacity will triple to over 4,000 MW IT (4 gigawatts of IT capacity) by 2030, growing at a 23 % compound annual growth rate (CAGR), reflecting the country’s increasing digital infrastructure needs.
