Ethiopia has announced its plans to adopt India’s Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) model to reduce rural poverty and empower women.
DAY-NRLM was launched in 2011 and renamed in 2016.
It is India’s flagship programme under the Ministry of Rural Development.
The mission promotes sustainable livelihoods, financial inclusion, and social mobilisation through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
It has mobilised over 10 crore rural women into about 91 lakh SHGs across India’s 28 states and 6 union territories.
The programme focuses on credit access, skill training, and entrepreneurship to ensure economic self-reliance.
