- Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) is set to establish India’s first private-sector helicopter Final Assembly Line in Vemagal, Karnataka.
- It will manufacture the Airbus H125 helicopter.
- This will support the growth of civil and para-public markets while meeting the Indian armed forces' needs for a light multi-role helicopter, especially for operations in the Himalayan region.
- The facility will also produce a military version, the H125M, with a high degree of indigenous components and technology.
- The first delivery of the ‘Made in India’ H125 is expected by early 2027, with plans to export helicopters across South Asia.
- This marks TASL as the first private company in India to manufacture helicopters and complements their existing Airbus assembly line for the C295 military aircraft in Gujarat.
