- India’s retail inflation rate eased to a 75-month low of 2.8% in May 2025.
- It fell below 3 per cent for the first time in over six years.
- It was last lower than this in February 2019.
- It was as per the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data.
- This decline is primarily attributed to falling food prices, despite an increase in some vegetable costs.
- However, double-digit inflation in edible oils and fruits partially offset the broader moderation.
