The Lok Sabha has passed the Industrial Relations Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, during the Budget session of Parliament.
The Bill provides legal clarity and continuity for labour laws replaced by the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.
The Industrial Relations Code, 2020, consolidated and repealed three major labour laws: the Trade Unions Act, 1926, the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
The Amendment contains savings provisions under Section 104 to ensure that actions taken, rights accrued, and proceedings initiated under the repealed laws continue without legal disruption.
