International Asteroid Day 2026 - June 30

The day marks the anniversary of the 1908 Tunguska asteroid impact in Siberia, Russia, the largest recorded asteroid impact on Earth.
It aims to increase public awareness about Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) and promote global efforts to detect and respond to asteroid threats.
The day also highlights the asteroid impact hazards.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed the day in 2016 through Resolution.
The theme for the year 2026 is "Planetary Defence and Asteroid Impact Hazards."
