- Currently, women comprise only 2% of the global seafarer workforce and just 20% of the shore-based maritime workforce.
- The registered women seafarers in the country increased from 1,699 in 2015 to 14,255 in 2024.
- India has observed this day under the theme of “Women in Maritime: Leading Transformation and Sustainability”.
