August 5 , 2026 5 hrs 0 min 49 0
  • The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy released the Judicial Transparency Index Report, assessing transparency of the Supreme Court and High Courts through their official websites.
  • The index was developed by the JALDI (Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India) Initiative in 2025.
  • It evaluates transparency in three areas: judicial processes, institutional governance & administration, and judicial/administrative personnel.
  • The report highlighted gaps such as non-disclosure of recusal criteria, lack of Supreme Court live-streaming guidelines, and limited budget and expenditure disclosures.
  • No High Court has published complete asset disclosures of all judges; only a few judges in some High Courts publicly declare assets.
  • The report aims to promote open, accessible and accountable judicial institutions.
