Judicial Transparency Index Report 2026

The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy released the Judicial Transparency Index Report, assessing transparency of the Supreme Court and High Courts through their official websites.
The index was developed by the JALDI (Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India) Initiative in 2025.
It evaluates transparency in three areas: judicial processes, institutional governance & administration, and judicial/administrative personnel.
The report highlighted gaps such as non-disclosure of recusal criteria, lack of Supreme Court live-streaming guidelines, and limited budget and expenditure disclosures.
No High Court has published complete asset disclosures of all judges; only a few judges in some High Courts publicly declare assets.
The report aims to promote open, accessible and accountable judicial institutions.
