- Four to five fire incidents have occurred in Karlajhar this year, all of which were managed swiftly by villagers with minimal damage.

- Karlajhar received Community Forest Resource Rights (CFRR) under Section 5 of the Forest Rights Act (FRA) in 2023 after a decade-long struggle.
- Section 5 of the FRA Act empowers the Gram Sabhas (village councils) to manage forest resources, prevent destructive practices, and protect forest-dwelling tribal habitats.
- The Community Forest Resource Management Committee (CFRMC), formed in 2022, enforces protection through the Thengapalli patrol system with 10 teams of 5 members each.
- Each Thengapalli team patrols for three days monthly to monitor illegal activities and report to the Gram Sabha.
