- The Cauvery delta has achieved its highest-ever Kuruvai paddy crop coverage this year.
- The coverage as of August 10 is 6.09 lakh acres.
- The normal Kuruvai coverage in the delta is 4.4 lakh acres.
- This year’s coverage is about 40 percent higher than the normal extent.
- Last year, the delta had only around 3.88 lakh acres under Kuruvai cultivation.
- This year’s coverage is approximately 57 percent higher than last year's.
- The previous record was 5.6 lakh acres during the 2023 to 2024 season.
- Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts have contributed nearly two lakh acres each.
