  • Israel-based startup Remilk will commercially launch lab-grown “cow-free” milk from January 2026.
  • Lab-grown milk is real dairy made without cows using biotechnological methods.
  • It contains casein and whey proteins, identical to cow’s milk, suitable for cheese, curd, and yogurt.
  • Produced through precision fermentation, where milk-producing genes are inserted into microbes that secrete milk proteins.
  • The milk is lactose-free, cholesterol-free, hormone-free, nutritionally similar to traditional milk, and customizable for fat or lactose content.
  • Lab-grown milk is ethical and climate-friendly, reducing animal use, methane emissions, and environmental impact.
