- Lakhanpur in Kathua district, Jammu & Kashmir, has been selected among the first towns under the PM SVANidhi Street Food Hub Plan for developing an organised street food facility.
- The initiative is implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors’ Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
- The Street Food Hub aims to provide modern vending infrastructure, hygienic food spaces, and better livelihood opportunities for street vendors.
- Lakhanpur is located in Kathua district of Jammu & Kashmir and serves as an important entry point to the Union Territory from Punjab.
- PM SVANidhi Scheme was launched in 2020 to provide collateral-free working capital loans and support the financial inclusion of street vendors.
