Lungphun Ropui in Lianpui village, Champhai district, has been officially declared a Monument of the National Importance by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The formal notification was issued by the Ministry of Culture.
These antiquarian artefacts also include around 114 intricately carved memorial stones, anthropic holes, petroglyphs, Y-shaped wooden posts and a very ancient pathways.
It was only the second megalithic site in Mizoram to receive this designation.
The first was Kawtchhuah Ropui or Great Entranceway in Vangchhia village.
