First Wheelchair Passenger in Space

  • Michaela Benthaus, a German engineer, became the first wheelchair user to travel to space.
  • She crossed the Kármán Line, located 100 kilometres above sea level, which marks the edge of outer space.
  • The mission was called NS-37 and launched from Van Horn, Texas, United States.
  • Michaela Benthaus is an aerospace and mechatronics engineer at the European Space Agency (ESA).
