- The Manali Ennore Restoration and Rejuvenation Council (MERRC) was launched to restore the environmentally sensitive Manali-Ennore region.
- MERRC was established after the December 2023 oil spill and will focus on green projects, waterbody restoration, and pollution control.
- A modern emergency response centre has been set up at Tondiarpet to respond to floods, cyclones, and industrial accidents.
