- The Large drainage systems on Mars cover 100,000 square kilometres or more, similar to Earth’s large rivers.
- These areas show evidence of ancient flowing water, erosion, and sediment transport.
- Large basins represent 42% of the total material eroded by rivers on Mars, even though they cover only 5% of the planet’s terrain.
