  • A Megalithic burial complex with several dolmens and cist burials was discovered at Kadamakuttai village in Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu.
  • The site is significant because its enclosing structural wall is still visible, and the burial monuments are arranged in a planned layout.
  • Several Neolithic artefacts, including polished stone celts, soapstone objects, grinding stones and other stone tools, were found around the site.
  • A large natural boulder with three Neolithic polishing grooves was found, indicating stone-tool finishing and processing activities.
  • The site also has clay figurines, rubbing stones and fragments of urn burials, along with an isolated dolmen outside the main enclosure.
  • Krishnagiri district has more than 200 documented Megalithic burial sites, while Kadamakuttai shows a cultural sequence from the Neolithic period to the present.
