Assam’s Nameri Tiger Reserve received Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CA|TS) Approved status for its tiger conservation and protected-area management practices.
CA|TS is a globally recognised framework that assesses tiger reserve management, including wildlife protection, habitat management, monitoring, administration and community participation.
Nameri Tiger Reserve is located in Sonitpur district, Assam, and covers 464 sq km, including a core area of 200 sq km.
With this approval, all four tiger reserves in Assam—Kaziranga, Manas, Orang and Nameri—have achieved CA|TS Approved status.
