  • The Ministry of Science and Technology launched India’s first National Biofoundry Network.
  • The network includes six institutions aimed at scaling proof-of-concept developments, enhancing indigenous biomanufacturing, and creating jobs.
  • India’s bioeconomy grew from $10 billion in 2014 to $165.7 billion in 2024.
  • The government targets a bioeconomy of $300 billion by 2030.
