National Wildlife Day 2026 - September 04

  • The day aims to raise awareness about wildlife and encourage conservation.
  • National Wildlife Day was first celebrated in September 2005 and was established by animal behaviourist and philanthropist Colleen Paige.
  • It is observed twice a year, on February 22 and September 4; September 4 was added in honour of Steve Irwin.
  • The day highlights threats to wildlife such as climate change, habitat destruction, hunting and commercial exploitation.
  • It promotes the protection of wild animals and their natural habitats.
