  • The central government has launched the NAVYA (Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.
  • It aims to provide the vocational training to girls aged 16 to 18 years who have completed at least Class 10.
  • The focus is on training girls in non-traditional job roles to open up new career opportunities.
  • NAVYA supports the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 by promoting the women-led development.
  • It is a joint pilot initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
  • The scheme will cover 27 districts across the 19 states, including the Aspirational Districts and areas in the North-Eastern region.
