- The species was first collected in 2017 on the Valmiki Plateau in Satara district, Maharashtra.
- Blind caecilians are limbless subterranean amphibians that spend most of their life underground and are often mistaken for earthworms.
- The species is named after the historic Maharshi Valmiki Mandir near the discovery site.
