India was elected chairman of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) at its 23rd General Conference held in Phuket, Thailand.
India has returned to this leadership role since 2016.
AIBD is a regional intergovernmental organisation founded in 1977 under the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
It has over 92 member organisations from 45 countries, including government and affiliate members across multiple continents.
India is a founding member of AIBD, with Prasar Bharati representing the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The conference focused on media cooperation under the theme “Media for People, Peace and Prosperity.”
