- Both NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 are sub-lineages of the JN.1 variant, which remains the most dominant strain in India.
- NB.1.8.1 carries notable spike protein mutations called A435S, V445H, and T478I.
- The JN.1 lineage itself carries the L455S mutation.
