- The Haryana government suggests defining the Aravalli hills by geological age and a minimum height of 100 meters.
- Only hills from the Palaeoproterozoic (2.5–1.6 billion years ago) and Mesoproterozoic (1.7–1 billion years ago) eras would qualify.
- This excludes younger Neoproterozoic rocks and smaller hills under 100 meters.
