- Under the revised rules, H-1B visas will no longer be issued through random draws.
- Instead, applications will be assessed based on wage levels and the skill requirements of the job.
- The new rules will come into force on February 27, 2026, and will apply to the FY 2027 H-1B cap registration season.
- Currently, the programme allows for 65,000 H-1B visas annually.
- Indian nationals currently account for over 70 per cent of H-1B visas issued annually.
