- Phoenix roxburghii grows 12 to 16 metres tall with a solitary trunk and larger fruits.
- The study reclassified P. pusilla, P. farinifera, and P. zeylanica as Phoenix sylvestris.
- The species name Phoenix roxburghii honours botanist William Roxburgh.
