OneSCD Global Partnership

India co-hosted the launch of OneSCD (Global Partnership to Advance Equity and Transform Sickle Cell Care) during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder in which red blood cells become rigid and sickle-shaped, affecting blood flow and oxygen supply.
India’s National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission (NSCAEM) was launched in 2023 to eliminate Sickle Cell Disease as a public health problem by 2047.
The mission focuses on population-scale screening, early diagnosis, counselling, treatment and follow-up.
India reaffirmed its commitment to an equitable, coordinated and sustainable global response to Sickle Cell Disease.
