Pampa river under National River Conservation Plan

  • Kerala’s Pampa River is the state’s third-longest river, measuring 176 km in length.
  • The river originates from Pulachimalai hill in the Peermade plateau at an altitude of 5,410 ft.
  • It flows through the districts of Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Alappuzha.
  • The Pampa River basin covers an area of 2,235 sq km and includes 30 panchayats and Chengannur municipality.
  • The Union Jal Shakti Ministry has requested a detailed report from the Kerala government for inclusion in the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).
