- The Tamil Nadu government has increased the special pension for descendants of eminent freedom fighters.
- The special pension has been increased by ₹500 from ₹10,500 to ₹11,000.
- The revised pension amount is effective from August 15, 2025.
- The beneficiaries include descendants of Marudhu Pandiar Brothers, Veerapandia Kattabomman, Mannar Muthuramalinga Vijaya Raghunatha Sethupathy, and V.O. Chidambaranar.
- The descendants will continue to receive this pension for their lifetime.
- The State pension for freedom fighters in Tamil Nadu has been increased by ₹1,000.
- The revised State pension has been raised from ₹21,000 to ₹22,000 per month.
- The family pension for dependants of freedom fighters has been increased by ₹500.
- The new family pension amount is ₹12,000 per month, up from ₹11,500.
