The Union Cabinet approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with a financial outlay of ₹3.15 lakh crore.
The scheme, launched in February 2019, PM-KISAN is a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare that provides income support to land-holding farmer families.
The scheme provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmers in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The scheme uses Aadhaar-based authentication and digital verification to ensure transparent and direct transfer of benefits to farmers’ bank accounts.
So far, more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has been transferred to farmers through 23 instalments, helping them meet expenses on seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and agricultural machinery.
