- TN Chief Minister has inaugurated the Porunai Archaeological Museum near Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli district.
- The museum is built on 13 acres at a cost of ₹56.36 crore and was sanctioned by the Tamil Nadu Government in 2021.
- It displays artefacts excavated from Adichanallur, Sivakalai, and Korkai in the Thoothukudi district, and Thulukkarpatti in the Tirunelveli district.
- Exhibits include burial urns, iron tools, bronze and gold ornaments, coins, pottery, and artefacts with Thamizhi (ancient Tamil script) letters.
- Carbon dating shows iron use by Tamils as early as 3300 BC at Sivakalai and 2613 BC at Adichanallur.
