- The Government of Maharashtra launched Project Mahadeva to find and train boys and girls under 13 years of age in football.
- The selection was done through district-level, regional and state-level trials across Maharashtra.
- A total of 30 boys and 30 girls were chosen, and each will receive a full five-year scholarship that includes coaching, academics, nutrition, fitness and training support.
- As part of the programme, all 60 selected players will train with football legend Lionel Messi at the GOAT Football Clinic in Mumbai.
- The scheme aims to build a strong grassroots football system by supporting young talent in a long-term manner.
