- Gandhi addressed more than two lakh refugees stationed at the Kurukshetra Camp through this historic broadcast from Broadcasting House, New Delhi.
- The day also recalls Usha Mehta’s role in freedom broadcasting during the Quit India Movement.
- Usha Mehta was arrested on 12 November 1942 in Bombay, and the under ground radio transmitter she operated was seized on the same day.
