Rainfall deficit in Meghalaya

  • In the 2025 Southwest Monsoon (SWM) season, Meghalaya had a rainfall deficit of 56%.
  • It received just 690.7 mm of rain instead of the normal 1,555.4 mm.
  • Meghalaya now gets less rain than Jharkhand, which had 53% more rain than usual.
  • Research shows that dry areas in Meghalaya are growing, especially in the west, center, and north.
