- Blue Straggler Stars (BSS) are a rare class of stars found in star clusters that appear younger, hotter, brighter, and more massive than other stars in the same cluster.
- These stars are called “stragglers” because they appear to remain young even after other stars of the same cluster have evolved.
- The most accepted theory suggests that BSS are formed by mass transfer from a companion star or through merging of two stars.
