  • Jupiter’s equatorial diameter is 88,841 miles (142,976 kilometres), about 5 miles smaller than earlier estimates.
  • Its polar diameter is 83,067 miles (133,684 kilometres), about 15 miles smaller than previous data.
  • The findings show Jupiter is about 7% wider at the equator than at the poles due to rapid rotation.
  • Juno has been orbiting Jupiter since 2016 and provides precise data on its structure.
