- Six states, including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh, support the recommendation.
- Other states opposed the proposal, citing that the species is not threatened, and for conflict management reasons.
- Site-specific management and conservation plans are to be prepared by divisional forest officers and deputy conservators of forests.
