Tamil Nadu government will give land to start a training school for traditional folk-art forms at Valayangulam village in Thiruparankundram taluk, Madurai.
CM accepted the request of Parai artiste and Padma Shri awardee R. Velmurugan for setting up the school.
A new postgraduate (PG) course will begin in 2026–27, and financial assistance to the university will increase from ₹3 crore to ₹5 crore.
The ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ skill development scheme will be expanded for music and fine arts students.
The Chief Minister gave honorary doctorates to actor Sivakumar and artist Chandru.
It was given during the third convocation ceremony for the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University in Chennai.
The CM is the ex-officio Chancellor of the university.
