- The ICMR has released the second edition of the National Essential Diagnostics List (NEDL) to boost the country’s public health system.
- It aims to define which diagnostic tests should be standardised and available at all levels of India’s public healthcare system.
- The mandatory list includes
- Six core diagnostic tests should be available at village health facilities.
- Fifteen at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (sub-centers),
- Sixty-nine at Primary Health Centres (PHCs),
- Ninety-seven at Community Health Centres (CHCs), and
- Up to one hundred sixty-five tests at Sub-District and District Hospitals.
