The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) launched the 2nd NUDGE (Non-intrusive Usage of Data to Guide and Enable) initiative.
It aims to improve voluntary reporting of foreign assets.
High-risk cases were identified using Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) data for FY 2024–25, where foreign assets were not reported in ITRs for AY 2025–26.
The initiative promotes accurate disclosure in Schedule Foreign Assets (FA) and Foreign Source Income (FSI) under the Income-tax Act, 1961 and the Black Money Act, 2015.
The first NUDGE campaign (November 2024) resulted in 24,678 taxpayers disclosing ₹29,208 crore of foreign assets and ₹1,089.88 crore of foreign-source income.
