India has reaffirmed that the Shaksgam Valley is part of its territory and rejected the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route passing through the area.
The 1963 China-Pakistan Boundary Agreement is illegal and not recognised by India.
Shaksgam Valley lies north of the Siachen Glacier and forms part of the larger Kashmir region.
CPEC is a major infrastructure corridor connecting China’s Xinjiang region to Pakistan’s Gwadar Port.
