  • It requires States and Union Territories to use scientific evidence, field studies, and traditional knowledge for species identification.
  • Biodiversity Management Committees, Botanical Survey of India, and Zoological Survey of India are involved in the process.
  • It supports conservation, monitoring, and periodic review of threatened species across India.
