- The Election Commission of India ordered a special revision of electoral rolls in Assam.
- The exercise is separate from the special intensive revision because the National Register of Citizens status in the State is still pending.
- The 2019 National Register of Citizens excluded 19.6 lakh applicants out of 3.3 crore, and the final notification is yet to be issued.
- The Booth Level Officers will conduct house-to-house verification using three statements without requiring voters to fill out enumeration forms.
- Details of D voters (doubtful voters) will remain unchanged unless modified through an order of the Foreigners Tribunal or a court.
- The verification will run from November 22 to December 20, with the draft roll on December 27 and the final roll-on February 10, 2026.
